PHP не будет работать в командной строке

При попытке запустить скрипт установки composer в официальном Docker-контейнере php (php:5.6-apache) командная строка просто зависает в ожидании ввода

команда, которую я пытаюсь выполнить, следующая

curl -sS https://getcomposer.org/installer | php -- --install-dir=/usr/local/bin --filename=composer

и если composer установлен вручную в каталоге /usr/bin и запущен с использованием

composer

происходит то же самое. PHP, кажется, зависает в ожидании ввода, хотя вы можете в любое время нажать ctrl-c и выйти в терминал. Я пытался установить

apt-get install -y php5-cli

но это не помогло Есть идеи?
